What Is The Big Deal?
Big fashion chain stores like H&M, Zara and Forever 21 lets us have the latest fashion trends without paying the big bucks. But that also makes it for us more likely for us to buy things we don’t really need… which will eventually, end up in the trash sooner than later.
Let’s start with the definition, what is actually “Fast Fashion”?
According to Wikipedia “Fast Fashion” is a term used by fashion retailers to express that designs move from catwalk quickly to capture current fashion trends. A second, critical definition adds that fast fashion is not only about quickly moving from runway to store to consumer, but also to the garbage, causing a global hazard.
I’m not gonna lie, I too, like all of us get most of my clothes from theses shop. And I’m not trying to make anyone stop buying at those places, but we could be more cautious with our purchase, maybe try more thrift shopping?
What can we do about it?
Well, we could try to look for clothes made in countries with stricter environmental regulations for factories.
Another option is Choose organic fibers and natural fibers that do not require chemicals to be produced.
To conclude, fast fashion is not bad, but we should be more mindful with our purchase, and in that way take a little more care of our world.
